Rhinos Get One-Run Win at Amarillo
|
In a close game at Ballpark of Henderson, the Redwood Rhinos edged the Amarillo Warheads, 3-2. Redwood designated hitter Maurice Hinkle earned the nod as player of the game. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. Redwood reliever Iván Bermúdez was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Carl Middlemiss. John Tripcony earned the save for Redwood, his 2nd of the year.
Jimmy Cooper contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the sixth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he drew a walk. It was one at-bat that propelled Redwood to the win.
"I like what I saw today," said Redwood manager Frank Bass, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The Warheads, at 4-11, have stumbled out of the gate.
