Multi-HR Game for Tañón in 7-3 Win
|
The New Orleans Voodoo knocked off the San Mateo Dirty Reds, 7-3, at Lang Park. Luis Tañón, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason New Orleans won. The first baseman belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Fernando Nava, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. The Dirty Reds fall to 9-11 and continue their uneasy start to the 2043 season.
New Orleans needed the clutch hitting of Nelson Jaramillo to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Voodoo on top, 5-3. For the game, Jaramillo had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Jaramillo. "And not try to do too much."
