The Caldwell Chiefs beat the Eugene Vandals, 5-2, at The Riot Zone. Caldwell second baseman Melvin Todd earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. At 53-39, the Chiefs are currently third in the Premier A.
The most crucial at-bat for Caldwell came in the top of the 11th inning. That's when Todd stroked a first pitch fastball to right for a 3-run home run, putting Caldwell up, 5-2.
