The Eugene Vandals got a stellar performance from pitcher Forest Brewer, who handcuffed the Caldwell offense en route to a 5-1 win at Pipers Ballpark. Brewer, now 2-2, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. The save went to Yun-fat Ju, his 1st this season.

The Vandals grabbed the lead in the top of the fourth. With two out, Javier Cunchillos hit a 2-run home run off Tony Figueroa, putting Eugene in front, 3-0. For Cunchillos, it was his 1st home run of the season.

"I thought we played a nice game," Cunchillos told the Eugene Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."

Eugene now sits at 21-38, while Caldwell falls to 34-25.
