The Caldwell Chiefs defeated the Delmarva Gallos, 5-2, in USPL Single A action at Pipers Ballpark, with Caldwell pitcher Andrei-Luiz Dawang named player of the game. Picking up the save was Jerry Mander, his 20th. The third-place Chiefs improved to 31-22.

The Gallos had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Chiefs going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Ruff McGruffin came to the plate. McGruffin hit a 2-run double on a full count cutter from Delmarva hurler Ernie Landry. It was McGruffin's 19th double of the year.

Dawang attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
