Tight Tilt Goes to Chiefs, 4-3
|
The Caldwell Chiefs picked up a win at The Ballpark on the Beach, knocking off the South Beach Blaze, 4-3. On the mound for Caldwell was right-hander Andrei-Luiz Dawang, who played a pivotal role in the win. Jerry Mander was called on to finish, recording his 18th save. Caldwell now sits in 4th place in the Premier A at 29-19.
Caldwell center fielder Li-ping Lian contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball into right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 50th hit of the season and put the Chiefs ahead, 4-1.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said South Beach manager Vicente Rodríguez, "let me know."
