Voodoo Top Bowties to Even Record
|
The New Orleans Voodoo bested the Buckhead Bowties, 5-3, at 5 Paces Park. Reggie Gommers was named player of the game. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. New Orleans starter Buzzy Grossman was credited with the win after throwing 103 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-2. Santiago Rivera picked up the save, his 2nd.
Gommers contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for New Orleans in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Gommers took a fastball from Paul Haines and stroked the home run to right-center. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Voodoo to leap in front, 4-3.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Gommers.
The Bowties fall to 6-8 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2043 season.
