Mockingbirds Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Knights
|
The Mississippi Mockingbirds defeated the Kingston Township Knights, 6-4, at Cloverdale Legion Park. Seb Blanch was named player of the game for Mississippi. His 2 hits included 1 single and 1 double, in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. The winner was Brewster Warble in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Stu Searle took the loss. Jeff Mahl recorded the save for Mississippi, his 2nd of the season.
The result might have been different for Mississippi, had it not been for Daniel McCoy. The left fielder produced a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mockingbirds ahead, 6-4. For the game, McCoy had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We take it day by day here," said Blanch, "and today was a good one for us."
The Knights fall to 5-9 and continue their wobbly start to the 2043 season.
