Tula Bang Out 7-1 Win Versus Grim
|
The Tula grabbed a win, 7-1, at The Coffin, overcoming a fine effort from Grim pitcher Richard Dougherty. Dougherty went 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Peter Bradley earned his 1st save in 2 tries. The last-place Tula now have a win-loss record of 9-22.
Millard King went 1 for 4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs for Chicago. The 20-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Richard Dougherty. It was his 11th walk of the season.
King expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
