Chiefs Prevail, 3-2, Over Rocky Mountain
|
The Rocky Mountain Vibes got a superb performance from pitcher Bailey O'Donnell, but the Caldwell Chiefs still won the game, 3-2. O'Donnell was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Tony Figueroa, the winner, improved to 5-0. He held the Vibes to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3. The Chiefs, at 19-11, lead by one game in their division.
Caldwell relied on the bat of Gin-fan Chong to get the win. The second baseman ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Chiefs ahead, 3-0. For the game, Chong had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Caldwell manager Alexander Allen.
