Loss Extends Chicago Losing Streak
|
The Vandals faced a stiff challenge from Chicago pitcher Sancho Altagracia, but persevered to claim a win at The Riot Zone. The final score was 3-2. Altagracia went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. José Cruz was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 4 strikeouts. Tommy Moore sewed up the save, his 8th.
Eugene first baseman Ken Francis helped the Vandals to the win. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the 21-year old third baseman stroked a run-scoring double. For the game, Francis was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks.
"We put together a nice win," Francis said.
The slumping Tula have lost 6 straight.
