Tight Tilt Goes to Hawks, 2-1
|
Fans who came to Washington Park watched the Laredo Hawks and the Washington Generals fight to the finish.
In a low-scoring clash between Laredo and Washington, pitcher Mike Wilson was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Laredo in the 2-1 win. Bill Gould, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 3rd in the top of the seventh inning. Facing Washington hurler Augusto Prats, Luc Leroux, who is tied for 4th in the SA in doubles with 23, drew a walk. The Hawks went on to win.
"The old adage is true," said Leroux. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
The Hawks sit in 4th place in the Silver A with a record of 49-46.
