Washington Generals starter Joe Kelly turned in an exceptional performance against the Mancelona Torch at Torch Field, resulting in a Washington win, 2-1. The Generals saw their record improve to 40-47.

Kelly was in the zone all game. He frustrated Mancelona hitters while giving the Generals 7.1 innings of quality work. Kelly threw 98 pitches, allowing 2 hits and getting 4 punchouts.

"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Kelly. "Successful pitchers do it."
