The Mancelona Torch and Monroeville Yinzers put on a pitchers' duel at Torch Field.
Ki-seop Ch'oe never let the Yinzers get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Torch to a 2-1 win. Ch'oe picked up the win for Mancelona, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-9.
Had Carlos Vélez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Vélez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Torch.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Ch'oe said.
Their 33-48 record puts the Torch 9th in the Silver A.
