Both teams had their chances, but the Mancelona Torch eventually prevailed at Jets Stadium.

The Mancelona Torch trumped the Kennesaw Jets, 5-4, at Jets Stadium. Mancelona designated hitter Juan Esteban Santángel was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. Mancelona reliever Mun-wah Rao was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. José Correa took the loss for Kennesaw.

One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 3rd in the top of the seventh inning. Facing Kennesaw hurler Roberto Palmeiro, Ramón Rodríguez drew a walk. The Torch went on to win.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Kennesaw manager José Vázquez. "But we decided not to take it."

The 9th-place Torch improved to 32-46.
