The Torch had to overcome a fine effort from Huntington pitcher William Averett to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Torch Field. Averett went 7.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Mancelona is now 31-42, while Huntington is 42-31.
Mancelona took a 3-2 lead on Carlos Vélez's 64th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Vélez hit in the bottom of the 11th, left Huntington pitcher Eisaku Ishikawa visibly frustrated.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Huntington manager Rafael Herrera.
