Hobeaus Lose Again, 6-4, to Yinzers
|
The Monroeville Yinzers beat the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 6-4, at Smokies Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Dave Hall, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Gustaf Steur, the winner, improved to 3-7. He held Smoky Mountain to 1 earned run on 1 hit over 5 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Smoky Mountain now has a 7-game losing streak.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the sixth inning when the Yinzers sent teenager Luis Pamparacuatro to the plate against Hobeaus hurler Ben Hankins. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a full count cutter to score 1.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Pamparacuatro.
