Comets Get Win, Extend Streak to 8
|
The Mancelona Torch got a superb performance from pitcher Adam Wright. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Kent. The Comets won the game, 2-0. In spite of the loss, Wright was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Kent has now won 8 in a row.
Kent used the timely hitting of Ole Geenen to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Comets on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Geenen attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
