Hawks Subdue Mancelona, 4-2
|
Mancelona got a terrific performance from pitcher Al Maxwell, but it wasn't enough to beat the Laredo Hawks. Laredo won the Hawks Field contest, 4-2. Maxwell was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball. Mancelona's current losing streak is now 4 games.
Laredo took a 3-2 lead on Jason Hawkins's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Mancelona pitcher Kade Gilmore in the bottom of the seventh.
"I like what I saw today," said Laredo manager Leonardo Sánchez, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
