The Laredo Hawks beat the Washington Generals, 6-5 at Washington Park, in part due to first baseman Geoff Sullivan, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Matt Cornett, credited with the win, is now 1-5. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 0.2 innings. De'Coldest Crawford, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save.

Sullivan had a game-changing single in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch splitter from Del Jones, he banged a run-scoring single to center, giving the Hawks a 6-5 lead. It was the 8th hit of the year for Sullivan.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Sullivan told a Laredo Today reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."

With the win over Washington, the Hawks improved to 23-30.
