Torch Curb Bulls, 9-7
|
The Mancelona Torch picked up a win at Torch Field, knocking off the Belleville Bulls, 9-7. Starting pitcher Danny Antonio played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Antonio, now 3-2. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 7. Al Maxwell locked down his 10th save.
Bernard Cornwell, the Mancelona right fielder, contributed a 2-run triple in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 6-2, Torch. For the game, Cornwell was 2 for 3 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
In postgame comments to the Mancelona Daily, Antonio said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Mancelona occupies 6th place in the Silver A at 17-21.
