Torch Continue Skid Thanks to Geenen, Comets
The Kent Comets defeated the Mancelona Torch, 4-3, at Fuller Park today. Leading the charge for Kent was first baseman Ole Geenen. He slugged 2 home runs. Fredrick Shive got the win, improving to 4-0. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 14 and walking 1. The save went to Kenny McFadden, his 16th this season.

Geenen came through with some timely hitting for Kent. With the score 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth and no one down, Geenen hit a 1-0 fastball for a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season made it 2-1, Kent.

Geenen told the Kent News: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."

The 6th-place Torch have lost 7 consecutive games.
