Hobeaus Fall Short, 7-6, at Washington
|
The Washington Generals eked out a 7-6 win versus the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus at Washington Park. Nobody did more than center fielder Xavier Hutchesson, who captured player of the game honors. Washington reliever Norberto Duarte was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Ben Kemp took the loss for Smoky Mountain. The save went to Tom Thornton, his 1st this season.
Cañas, Costa Rica-born Bonifacio Marmolejo came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded and the Generals trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run double to right to put Washington on top.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Hutchesson said after the game.
Washington now has a 3-game win streak.
