Multi-HR Game for Cicerón in 8-3 Win

The Laredo Hawks and Mancelona Torch cranked it up at Hawks Field.
The Mancelona Torch grabbed a 8-3 win over the Laredo Hawks at Hawks Field. Mancelona second baseman Thiago Cicerón went 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 to earn player of the game honors. Adam Wright was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts.
Mancelona used the timely hitting of Bernard Cornwell to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put the Torch on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Cornwell told the Mancelona Daily.
The Hawks fall to 5-9 and continue to sputter in the early going.
