Yinzers Squelch Torch Offense in Shutout Win
|
Pitcher Brian Thomas was sensational for the Monroeville Yinzers in his team's 3-0 triumph over the Mancelona Torch. Thomas received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Thomas got the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. Thomas allowed no earned runs. Sidd Finch recorded the save for Monroeville, his 1st of the season.
Monroeville used the timely hitting of Gustavo Gonzáles to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Yinzers on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put together a nice win," Thomas said.
The loss lowers the Mancelona record to 4-5.
