Hawks Cut Down Jets, 8-4
|
The Laredo Hawks topped the Kennesaw Jets by the score of 8-4, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder George McLean. McLean went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Hawks. Eric Hurt got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1 innings. The Hawks are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 4th win in 9 games.
Laredo used the bat of Alonso Gómez to capture the win. The third baseman jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Hawks ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said McLean.
