Bulls Win Thriller, 5-4
|
Fans who came to Belleville Field watched the Belleville Bulls and the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus fight to the finish.
The Bulls grabbed a win, 5-4, at Belleville Field, overcoming a fine effort from Smoky Mountain pitcher Félix Torres. Torres went 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Belleville reliever Luis Martínez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Carl Harris was saddled with the loss.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 4-4, left fielder Ed Dimock won it for Belleville. With the bases loaded, Dimock hit a first pitch sinker from Carl Harris for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 5-4 win.
"We'll savor this win," Dimock told the Belleville News, "then get ready for the next game."
The win lifts Belleville to a record of 3-0.
