Yinzers Mow Down Generals, 9-3

Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Washington Generals home opener. Charles Harvey started for the home team against Gustaf Steur for the Monroeville Yinzers. The Generals were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 9-3, Monroeville. Dave Hall was named player of the game. Gustaf Steur, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held Washington to 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 5 innings, while racking up 10 strikeouts. Bhunandana Lecamwasam picked up the save for Monroeville, his 1st of the year.
The Yinzers grabbed the lead in the top of the fourth. With no one out, Jesús Cortéz hit a 2-run home run off Charles Harvey, putting Monroeville in front, 4-0. For Cortéz, it was his 1st home run of the season.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Hall.
