The Pontiac Godfathers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Andrew Johnson, who muffled the Alameda offense en route to a tight 2-1 Godfathers win at Pontiac Copperdome. Johnson got the win, improving to 2-10. He allowed 3 hits and walked 3 over 6.1 innings. Johnson allowed no earned runs. Victor Brown locked down his 16th save.
Tom Connelly was vital part of the Pontiac win. He was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the fifth with two out, Connelly hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 2-0, in favor of the Godfathers.
"It feels good to get this one," Connelly told the Pontiac Daily News.
Pontiac is now 32-61.
