Mangos Jolt Expos with Late Rally
|
The Kingston Mangos knocked off the Niagara Falls Expos, 5-3, at Mango Yard. Cory Blatchford, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Kingston won. The shortstop went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Kingston reliever Alfonso Medina picked up the win, upping his record to 4-5. Ricardo Hernández was saddled with the loss. With the victory, the Mangos record now stands at 42-44.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Blatchford delivered big-time for Kingston, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Wu-shun Feng. The game-changing hit put the Mangos on top, 5-3.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Blatchford said after the game.
