Storm Edge Past Godfathers, 5-4
|
In a close game at Storm Park, the Syracuse Storm edged the Pontiac Godfathers, 5-4. Syracuse third baseman Kenny Benson earned the nod as player of the game. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Syracuse is now 38-42, Pontiac 25-55.
Had Richard Fowler not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Fowler hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Storm.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Benson.
