Tight Tilt Goes to Storm, 2-1
|
The Syracuse Storm took Columbia pitcher Charlie Turner's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Columbia Stadium. The final score had Syracuse getting past the River Rats, 2-1. Turner went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 12. The River Rats, at 42-33, have lost 4 straight games.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of Jacob James to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Storm on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," James said in reaction to the win.
