Airmen Squelch Storm Offense in Shutout Win
|
In a low-scoring clash between Alameda and Syracuse, pitcher Darryl Bailey was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Alameda in the 3-0 win. Alameda reliever Marty Graham picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jeffrey Eckert shouldered the loss. William Stevens sewed up the save, his 8th.
Alameda took a 2-0 lead on Sergio Estrada's 10th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Estrada hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Syracuse pitcher Jeffrey Eckert visibly frustrated.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Alameda manager Edgardo Álvarez.
With the win, the Airmen have a record of 30-19.
