Battery Raise Rally Flag, Beat Ft. Worth, 7-5
|
The Charleston Battery beat the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 7-5, at Charleston Armory. The Battery got a fine performance from second baseman Datu Lesaca, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The win was credited to Amberlan Romubio in relief. His record improves to 7-2. WyDale Curry took the loss. Charleston is 8th in the Premier League with a record of 46-55.
The Battery got a lift from shortstop Alfonso López who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the eighth inning off WyDale Curry. It was his 23rd RBI of the season and put Charleston in front, 6-5.
"We think we're a good team overall, so we're not too surprised to win today," said López.
