Carlos Rivera was at the head of a Mercer Island hit parade today at The Ogre Den. The shortstop went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Screaming Eagles to a 12-6 victory over the Olympia Ogres.

"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Rivera told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."

Ogres skipper Harris Bailey said later that the club gave up "too much plate."

"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

Carlos Rivera hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Doug Swanson in the 5th, singled in the 6th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Presently Rivera is batting .367 and has collected 2 home runs, 19 RBIs, .401 OBP and scored 17 runs.
