Valle goes 4-for-4, Leads Fighting Imps to Win
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Carlos Valle, the Ithaca Fighting Imps defeated the Olympia Ogres, 6-0. Valle was 4 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Fighting Imps. John Fleming earned the win for Ithaca. He lasted 7 innings, allowing no earned runs on 4 hits, while striking out 10. With the win, he raised his record to 3-5. Ithaca is now 19-26, while Olympia is 20-25.
The result might have been different for Ithaca, had it not been for Andy Hicks. The first baseman produced a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Fighting Imps ahead, 1-0. For the game, Hicks had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
