River Rats Win at Niagara Falls, 5-3
|
Columbia River Rats starter Christiansen Chemnitz was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Niagara Falls Expos, 5-3. In 6 innings, Chemnitz surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. Tom Young picked up the save for Columbia, his 9th of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Columbia, had it not been for Phil Hogan, the 22-year old center fielder . Hogan contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put Columbia up, 4-3.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Chemnitz.
The third-place River Rats now have a 10-game winning streak.
