Victory Over Thunder Takes Chesapeake to 21-10
|
Chesapeake right fielder Ken Jackson made his presence felt in the 7-2 Cangrejos Fantasmas triumph over the St. Petersburg Thunder. Jackson went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Ron Lucas, the winner, improved to 2-2. He held the Thunder to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Otto Mathews got credit for the save for Chesapeake. It was his 3rd of the year.
In the bottom of the third, Chesapeake catcher Freddie Butterworth had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Butterworth stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 3-0, Chesapeake. For the game, he went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 4 RBI.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Jackson.
Chesapeake has an impressive 21-10 record.
