Rainbow Mermaids Beat Cattlemen in 10
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids topped the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 6-2, in United States Premier League action at The Cattle Pen. The player of the game was Northern Virginia pitcher and San Juan, Puerto Rico native Juan Valseca. Nick Cole, credited with the win, is now 4-4. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Northern Virginia has 3 straight wins, Ft. Worth 3 straight losses.
Northern Virginia used the timely hitting of Gerrie Bond to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Bond said.
