Yellows Get One-Run Win at Syracuse
|
The Yucca Valley Yellows faced a tough opponent in Syracuse pitcher Juan Gonzáles, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Storm Park by a final score of 2-1. Gonzáles went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Yucca Valley reliever Noah Birkbeck was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Juan Gonzáles. Robinson Martínez got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Duluth, Minnesota-born Reginald James came through in the clutch. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd and the Yellows trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run double to left to put Yucca Valley on top.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," James told the Yucca Valley Observer.
The Yellows, at 16-8, sit in third place in the Menard's A.
