Victory Over U-24 Takes Columbia to 15-8
|
The Columbia River Rats dealt the Athletic Club KC U-24 a 8-5 loss at Columbia Stadium. Phil Hogan was the star on offense. He was 2-2 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Columbia reliever Charlie Turner got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Joel Woodard was tagged with the loss. Tom Young earned the save for Columbia, his 6th of the year.
Robbie Clark had a big 2-run single for the River Rats in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Columbia leading 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Joel Woodard and stroked the single to left. It was his 19th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the River Rats ahead, 6-3.
"We came out aggressive," said River Rats manager Allen Davis. "We came out swinging the bats."
