The Ithaca Fighting Imps racked up a win at Mercer Island Grounds, bumping off the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 3-2. José Torres, who started for Ithaca, pitched effectively for his team. Torres went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-0. Damarco Lyons closed it out for his 1st save.
Had Paul Wood not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Wood hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Fighting Imps.
Torres called the win "a collective effort."
With the win, Ithaca goes to 9-7.
