Eclipse Come Back Late, Nip Sixshooters
|
In a tight battle between the Northville Eclipse and the Westwood Sixshooters, pitcher John Sparks was in the zone. The Northville right-hander was named the player of the game in Northville's 1-0 win. The win was Juan Colón's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Juan Carmona took the loss for Westwood. Ari Schaller earned his 1st save in 2 tries.
Had Jorge Napolez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Napolez hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Eclipse.
In postgame comments to the Northville Today, Sparks said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Eclipse have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 4th win in 16 games.
