Yucca Valley Wins 6-2 to Continue Red Hot Start
|
Yucca Valley rode a fine outing from starter George Crane to victory over the Walla Walla Walleye at Walleye Tank. The final score was 6-2. The winning pitcher was Crane, now 3-0. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. The Yellows, now 10-1, have had a terrific start to the season.
Yucca Valley used the clutch hitting of Keaton Sturge to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to give the Yellows the lead, 2-0. For the game, Sturge had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Sturge told the Yucca Valley Observer. "You win just by scoring more runs."
