Thrilling Walk-Off Win for River Rats

Columbia rode a good effort from starter Christiansen Chemnitz to beat the Niagara Falls Expos at Columbia Stadium. The final score was 1-0. The win was credited to Micheal Smith in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jeff Petersen took the loss. At 7-3, the River Rats have played well so far.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Cristóbal Calzacorta came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Niagara Falls pitcher Jun-suk Sin, he hit a 2-2 cutter for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Columbia on top, 1-0.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Chemnitz.
