Behind a solid performance from shortstop John Clay, the Squirrel Hill Pierogis defeated the Tacoma Fur Traders, 5-2. Clay went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times for the Pierogis. Todd Dean, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities. Squirrel Hill is now 44-58.
The Pierogis grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With two out, Martín Flores hit a 2-run home run off Chet Clifton, putting Squirrel Hill in front, 5-2. For Flores, it was his 7th home run of the season.
