The Gulf Coast Turbeaus picked up a win at Goodyear Hanger Dome, knocking off the Akron Blimps, 5-3. On the mound for Gulf Coast was right-hander Jason Lawrence, who played a pivotal role in the win. Luis Valdés, credited with the save, is now 27 for 34 in save opportunities. Gulf Coast's record now stands at 45-56, placing them 9th in the Silver AA.

Gulf Coast used the timely hitting of Juan Méndez to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Turbeaus on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It was a good effort all around," said Méndez.
