Atoms Lose, 4-2, at Experimental Stadium
|
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs racked up a win at Experimental Stadium, bumping off the Bethesda Atoms, 4-2. Noah Walker, who started for Gwinnett, pitched effectively for his team. Francisco Díaz was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 22 save opportunities. The Guinea Pigs are now 48-51, while the Atoms fall to 50-49.
The Guinea Pigs grabbed the lead in the bottom of the second. With two out, Mike Williams, who is tied for 9th in the SAA in bases on balls with 50, hit a 3-run home run off José Correa, putting Gwinnett in front, 4-0. For Williams, it was his 13th home run of the season.
Walker told the Gwinnett Bulletin: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
