Boston second baseman Eisse van Opdorp played a vital role in his team's 6-5 triumph over Ft. Worth. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Boston. The winner was Boston reliever Jorge Gil, now 4-2. The loser was Dragutin Petrovic. Boston, now 59-31, holds second place in the Premier League.
van Opdorp had one of his biggest at-bats in the bottom of the seventh. Facing Dragutin Petrovic, the Boston slugger hit a 2-run home run. Suddenly, what had been a 5-4 Boston deficit turned into a 6-5 lead. For van Opdorp, it was his 24th home run of the season.
"We'll enjoy this win," said van Opdorp. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
