Fur Traders Raise Rally Flag, Beat Akron, 4-2
|
The Akron Blimps got a sterling performance from pitcher Henry Terry, but the Fur Traders still prevailed, 4-2. Terry was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. The winner was Tacoma reliever Theodosio Brederode, now 4-1. The loser was Horatio Hornblower. Luke Fitzgerald got credit for the save for Tacoma. It was his 22nd of the year.
Tacoma took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, right fielder Bari bin Sayyid hit a grand slam home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," bin Sayyid told the Tacoma Observer.
Tacoma, at 44-47, occupies 7th place in the Silver AA.
